You've Seen CES Coverage—Now See the OTHER Convention Footage
So ZAM has been posting coverage of the
CES
convention this yeah, but those who have attended (and some who haven't) know that on that particular weekend in Las Vegas, there are
two
conventions—CES, and the
Adult Entertainment Expo
, or
AEE
. So basically the whole weekend is a celebration of the two things that 18-34 year old males like best.
So of course,
Mike B aka Fony
couldn't resist the temptation to pay the AEE a little visit. For those of you who are interested (which I suspect is more of you than would otherwise let on), you can find the video here:

Please note: While the video is strictly PG, it's still probably not the kind of thing you want to be watching at work.

New Mount: Invincible Charger
Blizzard has just released a preview for a new mount being introduced in
Icecrown Citadel
.
The
Invincible Charger
was once Arthas' warhorse before becoming the Lich King and once he gained his powers he rose it from the dead making it his perfect steed.
To obtain this mount you must conquer Icecrown Citadel and face the Lich King on
Heroic
difficulty. Only one will drop from
The Lich King (Icecrown)
on heroic mode, much like how
Mimiron's Head
drops from the heroic version of
Yogg-Saron
.

Update: Blizzard posted an FAQ which you can read after the break.

The Lich King is Still Alive...
I know,
WoW.com
caught this a little while ago, but I couldn't help it. I'm sure there's many other YouTube connoisseurs out there who have come to love and appreciate the hilarious Warcraft
machinima videos of Mike Spiff Booth
(aka
spiffworld
), but I wanted to draw attention to his latest video release!
What better machinima could exist than one combining two of the most evil and sinister villains in recent gaming history, our beloved (yeah, right)
Lich King
and
Portal

GLaDOS
!

Building the Gunship Battle
Blizzard just released a new article on the creation behind the
Gunship Battle
encounter in
Icecrown Citadel
. They talk about how they designed it and how they were going for "controlled chaos" throughout the encounter.
As this is my favourite encounter of all time, I highly suggest you should give it a read on the
official site

BFF Report Episode 15: Mass Effect 2!
I know, another off-topic post—but I can't be the only person who's incredibly excited about
Mass Effect 2
.
Mass Effect 2 is an upcoming RPG from
BioWare
, makers of Knights of the Old Republic (and the upcoming MMO, The Old Republic), as well as Dragon Age: Origins (the last game I pulled an all nighter on).
So I know it's not WoW, but no self-respecting RPG fan would miss our friend Fony taking us through a sneak peek!

Suspected 3.3.2 Patch Notes Posted
WoW.com
has discovered the patch notes for the upcoming 3.3.2 patch on the
official Korean site
.
It has some noticeable changes in it for druids, shaman, warlocks, and warriors as well as some nice fixes to help make some of the dungeons run smoother.
As we indicated
last week
, we will NOT be seeing the patch this week -- but on
February 2, 2010
.
The team over at WoW.com was able to translate most of it, but as translations are never perfect, some of the wording might be slightly off. You can read the translated patch notes after the break!
Update 01/26:
Blademeld
was kind enough and went through and fixed up some of the unclear translations for us.

10th Mosaic Tile Unlocked: Invincible Music
It has been
10 days
since the last tile was unlocked in the Warcraft
Battlecry Mosaic
. Blizzard has finally reached the half way mark with
10,017
images collected, and with this a new tile was unlocked in the mosaic.
Along with this, instead of a piece of art being unlocked, a
piece of music
was selected as the goodie for this milestone. This one is titled "Invincible", which is the name of the Lich King's steed (see the 3D model on the right).
Invincible
Music
An ode to one who has fallen. Time and events have left it unclear whether the song refers to the former prince of Lordaeron or his beloved steed.
While we are over half way done there is still
9,983
pictures left to be collected, so head on over to the official
Battlecry Mosaic
site!

Blizzard Selling Gold...?
Blizzard has recently started selling gold... coins. Well not Blizzard directly— but
DC Direct
, the people who make the official Warcraft
action figures
, have created exclusive sets for both the
Horde
and
Alliance
.
Each coin features a major faction figure and is made with the actual metal the coin represents. The Alliance set comes with a 24 karat gold-plated coin featuring King Varian Wrynn, a sterling-silver plated coin with King Magni Bronzebeard, and a copper-plated coin adorned with High Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind.
The Horde set features Thrall on the gold-plated coin, Lady Sylvanas on the silver and Cairne Bloodhoof on the copper. Each set comes in black wooden box with a glass window and contains a non-removable commemorative metal plaque with your faction emblem.
You can find out more about the coins on the D

Limited Attempts Explained
With the
Icecrown Citadel
progression moving closer and closer to
The Lich King (Icecrown)
, we have seen the development of a not-exactly new feature, yet one that has caused quite a bit of confusion - the
limited attempts system
.
Restraint on boss attempts showed first in
Ulduar
and the one-hour timer on
Algalon the Observer
. Apparently Blizzard liked the idea, because then we saw
Trial of the Crusader
, where players were given 50 attempts to clear the entire place - or the remaining bosses would despawn. Well, the Icecrown Citadel expands on ToC. Two weeks ago, when the Plagueworks opened, raids were given 10 attempts to kill its final boss -
Professor Putricide
.
Now, with the release of the Crimson Hall, those attempts have been increased to 15 - however another boss,
Blood-Queen Lana'thel
shares them. In another 2 weeks, when the Frostwing Halls are open, players will get yet another 5 attempts, making the total of 20 shared between Putricide, Lana'thel,
Sindragosa
, and the Lich King. Presumably the number of attempts will go up (I suspect by 5) every so often (I suspect every 2 weeks).
So, to sum up here's everything in a table (after the break).

PvP Resilience Buff In Place for Season 8
As mentioned two days ago in the blog about the upcoming
Arena Season 8
, Blizzard has decided to hotfix a buff to resilience. This will
double the value
of resilience in reducing damage done by players, depending on how much you have you could see between a 10 and 20% decrease in damage taken.
The critical strike chance and critical strike damage are unaffected by this change. Blizzard also mentions how this might make healing in PvP difficult to counter and may make changes if this occurs.
So what does everyone think on this change? Is this good or bad for the PvP community?
You can read the blue post after the break.

Frostwing Halls Open in 2 Weeks
The Frostwing Halls in
Icecrown Citadel
are set to open in 14 days, or on
February 2, 2010
.
This is the final section of Icecrown Citadel. In here you will face the last three bosses:
Valithria Dreamwalker
,
Sindragosa
, and
The Lich King (Icecrown)
himself.
There will be a patch sometime before this (most likely on the 2nd itself) which will patch in the new in-game cinematic, among
other things
.

The Crimson Hall Unlocked
The third section of
Icecrown Citadel
unlocks today, after waiting 2 weeks since The Plagueworks opened.
Inside the
Crimson Hall
you will find the three Blood Princes-
Prince Keleseth
,
Prince Taldaram
and
Prince Valanar
. After you beat the princes you will have a chance to use your 15 attempts at killing
Blood-Queen Lana'thel
.
Good luck and happy raiding!

Arena Season 7 Ends, 8 to Start Soon
With arena season 7 coming to an end tomorrow (Jan 19), it is about time we all look forward to the next arena season.
Wrathful Gladiator
will become the new season's high-end set costing arena points and having rating requirements on most of the pieces.
Relentless Gladiator
pieces will have a lower arena point cost than the previous season and rating requirements lowered or removed. Next,
Furious Gladiator
will be moved to the honor point system. Finally the
Deadly Gladiator
set will be removed off all vendors.
New Damage/Healing Debuff?
There is also a major change that might happen for the last season before Cataclysm. Blizzard is considering experimenting a little bit, as mentioned in the recent Twitter
#BlizzChat
:
Q. If damage and healing is too much per health ratio, then why don't you have battlegrounds/arenas give a -30% damage/healing debuff?
A. We have been talking about solutions

An Apology
Last Thursday we posted a
guide to Cataclysm
, the upcoming WoW expansion. In that guide, we included a number of screenshots and photographs that we did not take, and they were not appropriately credited. Specifically, a number of them were taken from
MMO-Champion
, as well as a few that came from
World of Raids
and from the
Official WoW Magazine
.
This is seriously not cool, and should never have happened.
I have tremendous respect for all three of these editorial teams, and taking advantage of them is the last thing I would want to do.
By way of putting this right, I am currently going through the guide and adding credit where credit is due on all of the images I can find. If you happen to be reading the guide and you find an image that I missed—or if you are the owner of one of these images—please let me know via a comment here or via email at feedback@wowhead.com so that you can be credited.

Armory-Related Scams
Boubouille
over at
MMO-Champion
recently posted a piece concerning a new type of scam going around. It is a rather sophisticated attack, according to forum posters on the SomethingAwful forums.
The way it went down was a paid ad went up shortly on Google after the new features on the Armory went live. If you searched for Armory on Google it was listed in the sponsored section up at the top, as seen in the screenshot on the right. The entire site was a cleverly masked phishing site; it actively mirrored by proxy everything the real armory did. So it in reality looked like it should including all of the log in only content.
As of my recent check at 1:30pm EST on January 15, 2010 the ad seems to have been pulled by Google, but definitely keep your eyes out for scams like this!
